How do & Caspar & Mark 39 drones survive w/out maint

Post by nicewitch » Tue Jan 22, 2013 3:42 pm

Here's what I understand about the Caspar Drone WarShips and the Mark 39 Attack Drone Aerofighters: they patrolled the Inner Sphere for many years but Strategic Operations says that spacecraft must continually have maintenance.

canon fiction states that some of the Caspars had internal robotic maintenance systems.

plus, space is a great preserver of equipment.

If the primary systems are set to near hibernation, passive scans can 'scout/patrol' alot of space ways.

IRL, Our Voyager spacecraft have been functional for 30+ years without any maintenance at all, and with regular usage.

Also, the Big Battle Station what was mentioned in Liberation of Terra Part 1 has repair bays that are automated to help repair the various Drone equipment.

The Star League's Reagan Space Defense System was noted for including an elaborate network of automated spaceports and repair systems.

pg61 Star League SB: "Using an ultrasophisticated computer system, the SDS could easily operate with only a handful of Humans monitoring the system. The computers were capable of repairing themselves and of launching other drone ships from computer-run spaceports."
