Ive always intended createing my own slice of Battletech history should i find the need to play any games post Jihad, but thats very likely to take for ever for me to reach this dilema as im still more than happy gameing in 3025 time line and fixing my mech rusty ol mech up with gaffer tape and gum, so im personally not overly worried what happens after the Jihad / MWDA mergeing.
I would like to point out that just a few short years ago Battletech was on the very verge of becomeing a dead game, and its mainly thanks to the hard work from Fanpro that stopped this from happening so my deepest respect and appreciation goes out to them as they turned a static dieing game about and breathed life back into it and rekindle interest once more into the oldest tabletop Sci-fi wargame still going.
As for Catalyst its still early days to judge them but so far the way they have started out seems good (even to a old hard nosed Battletech player like myself) alot of the old rules needed clarification and stream lineing as the game was suffering from simply being bogged down by to many altered and corrected rules over the years of game errata's, the new TW & TM attempt to correct this with the brand new rules books that are easier to follow and understand as they are clearly laid out which in turn speeds up game play for an all round more enjoyable gameing experience...
Even if you dont like the inevitable approach of the MWDA time line merge and really dreading it, that still is no reason not to embrace and welcome these new TW & TM rules, as ive said they really do address many of the old rules and gray areas and in general make things much clearer and there no reason at all why you cant use the newer rules for your old games and campaigns as im doing now.
